Off to the Canaries

I'll be away for a couple of weeks for the annual Lanzarote trip. The first week will involve the International Running Challenge, which I've done several times before. Hopefully last week's 45 km training will help me to do some good times this year although, truth to be told, I'm not getting any faster these days.

The second week will be more relaxing and probably involve lots of reading by the poolside. Imaging doing something frantic like NaNoWriMo instead? Madness! Having said that, good luck to all you nutters out there who are trying to get your novels finished by the end of the month.

Ooh, fab. Have a good time.

Rather you than me. I think sitting on my bum chasing the NaNo deadline has to be easier than running marathons.

Best of luck.

Have a great time. We'll catch up on the chat when you get back.

Have a great trip and enjoy the run - if that's what you do with a run.

Ooh, good luck with the running. I shall be in Tenerife in just over a week. I'll wave!

Oooh, enjoy!
I do miss running, but I think it'll be at least a year before I can even think of coming back to it. In the meantime I can't even think of it - just something else to bash myself over the head with.

There is a website somewhere that gives you your PB times controlled for your age - so if a year later you run a marathon one minute slower, that's actually more of a challenge given your increase in age - or something along those lines. If I ever remember where it is, I'll send you the link if you're interested?

Helen: Thanks, I will.

Debs: I'm not so sure. No amount of training makes me want to speed-write.

Lane: Yes, we've missed yo in the chat room. Good to see you back here.

Colette: Believe it or not, I do enjoy running. There comes a point, after some initial barriers, when you can go into cruise mode. It even helps me to think sometimes.

Denise: I'll get the binoculars out when I'm there. Perhaps if you stand on top of Teide to wave, then I might see you.

B: I guess you're going to be busy for a while. I'm sure you could squeeze in a few runs, if you wanted to. If you do find that link, then please send it my way.

Sounds brilliant - and if B comes up with that time-for-your-age link, I'd be interested too... if depressed!

Feel exhausted just thinking about it, and there was me feeling smug about my impending 5km. Ha!

Best of luck.

I hope you are having a great time. See you on the 5th Dec at Cally's book launch.

ChrisH: I was slightly slower overall than last year, but perhaps I did better given my age.

CC: 5K is still a good race. Remember: you beat all those people who didn't do it.

Annie: I did have a great time. Sorry you missed Cally's launch.
